I'm sure there are many reasons why I am overweight, but I think one of the major contributors is my overindulgence in restaurant food. Today's challenge was shrimp fajitas at a local Tex-Mex restaurant. Before my entree came to the table, I ate plenty of chips...always my Achilles' heel. I was very proud of myself for separating out a reasonable portion of chips and only eating what I had set aside. Here's how I handled the huge entree portion:
what they SERVED (plus my dad's tomatoes) |
I immediately asked for an extra plate to separate out a more reasonable portion of food to eat.
what I ATE (just one tortilla torn up into small pieces, all the shrimp, the relatively light tortilla soup, about 1/2 cup veggies, and a spoonful each of rice, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and guacamole) |
what I DIDN'T EAT (most of the veggies, rice, tortillas, tomatoes, butter, and all of the sour cream... so much food!) |
what I TOOK HOME (just the grilled veggies and tomatoes... I will use these for recipes, maybe soup? The flour tortillas went home with someone else who likes them more than I do. I left the sour cream, butter, and the rice at the restaurant... I hate to waste food, but food goes to waste whether or not you eat it!) |

I probably could have eaten and drunk less, but overall, this was a WIN!
